An Ivory netsuke depicting a rat holding a chestnut.
Seated with its tail wrapped around the front of a nut and his head turn backwards. The rat appears to be guarding its lunch and checking the coast is clear before enjoying it.
Well-worn with the remains of fine hair work, the surface has a lovely dark yellow patina and the eyes inlaid with dark horn.
