A fine Asakusa netsuke in walrus tusk, the Shishi has been carved beautifully and sat upon a Mokugyo with the Sanskrit “Bonji” to the front. Bonji loosely translates to “accomplished or perfected”. The tail of the Shishi forms the handle of the bell trailing down the far side.
