A wood netsuke by Shunsai depicting an oni and skeleton fighting in a sumo contest. The skeleton's bones well carved with lots of openwork between the bones of the legs and around its arms. The oni, muscles tensed and face grimacing has small inlays for his protruding teeth and horns, his tiger skinned loin cloth lacquered. The himotoshi ringed and signature inlaid on a cartouche.
