Netsuke - Okame Dancing

A lacquered Okame head tilted to one side; holding her kimono with one hand and with the other arm raised, she enjoys a dance. Her face is covered in white gofun and hair is beautifully arranged with a bone pin holding everything in place. A very delicate netsuke with nice soft lines and the jolly face of Okame, always a joy to see.

For a very similar albeit smaller netsuke, see Sagemonoya "Netsuke: The French Connection" number 50 (I recommend reading their description, it is much more eloquent and beautifully put than my own).
