A good sized, wood netsuke depicting an octopus emerging from a tetsubin (traditional Japanese iron kettle).
Two of the octopus’s tentacles feel their way outside of the pot, one wrapped around the spout and the other the handle. The creature’s face is well detailed with large eyes, its mouth just peaking over the rim.
The himotoshi to the base is formed by two equal holes.
