A compact wood netsuke depicting a mermaid. The mermaid has a strong face and hair flowing down her back; her arms are tucked in and tail turned back on itself, forming a particularly compact netsuke.
The himotoshi is formed by one larger hole to the mermaid’s underside and a smaller hole under one arm.
