Large, well-worn late 18th century netsuke depicting a horse with its head and legs drawn in for compactness. The horse blanket is draped over its back, secured by an extravagant bow which has the remains of an inked pattern visible. The himotoshi formed by one larger and one smaller hole.
This old netsuke has been well used and loved by its original owner; the fine hair work that would have covered the body is only visible in the protected recesses. The surface of the wood has developed a beautiful deep patina.
Please note the rear leg has been very well restored with an almost invisible restoration
Size: 5.8cm
