A lightly stained wood netsuke depicting a three eyed demon (Mitsume-kozo) on the back of a winged Mokugyo drum. The Mokugyo is in the process of metamorphosing into a grinning whale or bat like creature. The wings are delicately carved with a lovely contrast between the smooth surface of the demon and the textured line work of the wings and scales on the drum. The eyes of the demon and drum are inlaid. There are various openings between the demon and the drum that would function as good himotoshi.

Condition - I have had a small section of the wing restored which is invisible to the naked eye.
