A very well detailed netsuke carved from unimatsu. Depicted, a cicada resting on a pile of leaves, constructed from three sections. The thorax, wings and leaves make up one section, and the abdomen and head are plugged. The carver has made use of a piece of Unimatsu with a naturally occurring channel. A very beautiful design and clever use of material.
