A well carved, dark wood okimono-style netsuke depicting the legend of Choryo and Koseki at the river I. Choryo is down on one knee handing Koseki his shoe; Choryo’s foot is pressed against the large head of a dragon, whose body is shown to the base of the composition. The dragon’s tail raises up on the other side and joins to the horse of Koseki, forming a natural himotoshi.
