A finely carved four-case red lacquer inro depicting an all-over design of peonies growing from a rocky base against an incredibly detailed and well-executed ground in low relief of stylised blossoms.
The use of the material is worth noting. Each of the leaves carved to expose the different shades of red in perfect alignment.
