An early 4-case inro depicting a pair of birds taking flight with a scarer hanging above a rice field. To reverse, an elaborate screen hangs.
The inro probably 17th century, inlaid with shell in various places. This with the scrolling design to the cord runners places this inro in an important early group of lacquerers. The Kress’s have mentioned them in literature and have a number of examples within their archives.
