A well-rendered wood netsuke depicting a toad climbing a broken bucket. In our version of this motif, we catch the toad frozen in motion, almost there, just one outstretched leg to go. The toad is particularly well rendered. Unusually, the pins of the bucket are not inlaid in dark horn but with wood pins stained a different shade to the bucket.
