A large well-worn toad with a nice patina and very tactile feel in the hand. The surface of the wood is stippled and has been worked to form a netsuke that is very functional and simple in composition, which has clearly been well loved and used by its previous owners. The himotoshi is formed by two equal holes to the base, and eyes double inlaid (one replaced).
