Netsuke - Shoki and Oni

An oni spread atop a basket, pinning it to the ground. A saya (scabbard) of a sword has broken though and pokes out, giving a hint of what lay trapped within. Poor old Shoki, with a rather perturbed look on his face, has been outwitted by the oni and trapped under the basket. The oni’s eyes, teeth and back are inlaid, as are the eyes and buttons of Shoki’s clothes.
