A seated oni treating himself with a moxa remedy. The surface of the wood is lacquered and eyes double inlaid. Moxa, a traditional treatment for arthritis and aches and pains, dates back thousands of years, and involved pressing a pellet made from leaves into the affected area – it was quite a painful experience.
