A very large archaic shishi seated on a base, its mane and tail carved in simple bold strokes and the spine protruding down the animal’s back. Its face, less ferocious than we often see in shishi, is instead humorous and characterful. The surface of the wood has formed a nice warm patina.
The base is drilled with a single hole to form the himotoshi.
