A large, wide-bodied four case inro. Ten old Chinese and Japanese coins of various designs in Takamaki against a silver background.
With the very generous help of a Japanese collector, we have been able to correct over 100 years of incorrect cataloguing. The coins have previously been described as Chinese coins in both Soame Jenyns works and the 1911 Glendining and Co. sale. However, two of the coins have been identified as ancient Japanese coins. See the final image above.
